Intent
Eldergivers gives significant time and attention to showing
artwork from the Art With Elders classes publicly for the primary
purpose of encouraging elder artists to take their art seriously,
to develop their skills and to continue to grow as artists.
Other objectives for the public exhibitions include helping these
older artists to maintain on-going connections to their families
and their communities; enabling the public to see art it would
otherwise not see; challenging the public’s often negative perceptions
of aging and of long-term care facilities; and, of course, making
people aware of and attracting more support for Eldergivers’
mission.
Eldergivers’ on-line Galleries are an integral part of this intent,
providing the public yet another opportunity to see, and to purchase,
original artwork from emerging artists.
